Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to stay in Stepping Stones?

We require a $200 refundable deposit and the first two weeks client fees to move in.  For private rooms, the client fee is $200 per week, and for semi-private, the client fee is $175 per week.

Are there any other fees associated with staying in Stepping Stones?

No.  The weekly client fee covers your stay here, as well as all drug tests, utility bills, high-speed internet, Netflix, and house supplies delivered on a regular basis.  These supplies include toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish pods, copy paper, ink, cleaning supplies, and other consumables.

What if I don't have a job?

We will do what we can to help you find gainful employment, but ultimately you are responsible for finding and keeping a job to be able to support yourself and pay your bills.  Some house members receive government assistance and others receive help from family until they are able to fully support themselves.

Do I need to bring my own furniture and bedding?

No.  All bedrooms are fully furnished with a bed, dresser drawers, television, and other furniture that varies from room to room.  You are welcome to check out a set of bedding and towels when you move in (includes sheet set, two pillows, comforter, extra blanket, bath towel, hand towel, and face cloth) or if you would rather use your own, you can choose to use some or none of the bedding provided.  All bedding that is checked out must be returned by the time you leave.

Are there private rooms available?

There is at least one private room in each house, but they are not always available.  If you are interested in a private room, please ask our operations manager if any are available when you call to set up your interview.  All other rooms are semi-private (two people per room), and we never have more than two people sharing a room.

Am I required to attend 12-step meetings?

Yes.  During your probationary period (the first two weeks of stay), you are required to attend 5 meetings per week.  After that, as long as you are working or attending school, you are only required to attend 2 meetings per week.

Will I be tested for drugs and alcohol?

Yes, you are tested when you first move in, at every house meeting, when returning from pass, and as the operations manager sees fit.

Am I allowed to leave the house overnight?

Yes.  After your probationary period, you are allowed two pre-approved overnight passes per week.  They can be separate nights or together.  You must fill out a request form and have it approved prior to leaving on your pass.

 

How many people live in a house?

All of our houses have a max capacity of 5 or 6 people.

 

Is there an on-site house manager?

No.  We have one operations manager who attends to all five of the Stepping Stones houses.  She is located in the neighborhood but not on site at any one house.
